the end won’t be seen with a BANG.

you won’t catch it coming round the corner

it’ll creep up -

a caught-in-the-throat comment

never chosen to be thrown

hard and heavy it’ll sit in your palm

passive -

powerless against

a fist full of crushed words dismembered by paper shredder laced fingers

held together too tightly to remember the true purpose of freedom of speech.

the latter now reduced in price

pak’n’save style

just an unfunny punchline...

You are too young to live and die

Underneath this starry sky

And I know you’d rather be eating your mother’s pie

But you must attack thy

Enemy. And drive him from his trenches

Send him back to the backbenches

Rid him of his rocket launches

And push him onto his haunches

But sir, I hear you say

Why must we attack today

Why not save it ‘till the morrow

Save another day of sorrow

That answer I do not know

But we go where orders say we go

My moon, my sun;

a blossom . you began so rare and so wild. a

posy pink ; i repulsed at your beauty

but you grew, as did i.

we became daffodils . bright and young ; we didn’t care .

unforgivingly reckless ; majestic . we were so impossible .

i don’t know how we were

(A villanelle - an old poetic form with 19 lines and repeating lines.)

Shadows crawl and shadows leap

Nightmares, horrors in the night

Through the darkness as we sleep

Beasts of cruelty slowly creep

Many eyes watching and bright

Shadows crawl and shadows leap

Flesh to eat and souls to reap

Beings made to spread their blight

Through the darkness as we sleep

Twisted creatures from the deep

Up from where there is no light

Shadows crawl and s...

I could be a kid again;

take me back to when

all that mattered was the ice cream sandwich

dripping down my chin.

I could be a kid again;

take me back to when

wrong and right was measured in

the cookie jar tin.

I could be a kid again;

take me back to when

every hurt was fixed

with bandaids as the only medicine.

Random laughing fits.

Garden fairy trips.

Bedtime arguments.

Oblivious.

I could be a kid again.

Whatever happened to then?
